FAQ

Please email me to book a consultation or with any questions you may have before booking an appointment.

What is a second session/additional?

A second session is recommended 7-12 weeks after the initial appointment. I can book this for clients at their first appointment or they may book it online (a deposit is required to book online). I am flexible and allow clients to come in for the second appointment up to 6 months after the first. Scroll down to “When should I get a touch up?” for more information.

An “additional” touch up must be done between 7-12 weeks after a second or annual appointment. Clients that feel they need a very small touch up should email me a photo and a description of what they want done. I normally charge $50-$100 for an additional appointment.

Building up the brow may take multiple sessions for ideal results.

Will it hurt?

To be entirely honest, it may! I use 2 types of numbing before and during the process to keep it pain free as possible. This varies from person to person. Some clients find lidocaine to be highly effective and others experience discomfort. Brows and lips are typically swollen and tender for a few days after the procedure.

Should I wax/tweeze/thread my eyebrows before coming in?

Up to you! Sometimes it is helpful for me to see how you normally groom your brows, but if you want to include as much of your natural brow hair in the design/shape you can let them grow out and I will clean up any stray hairs.

What is the difference between microblading/combination brows/powder/nano?

Microblading is done with a manual tool rather than a tattoo machine. This is used to create tiny incisions in the skin and implant pigment (not tattoo ink) that makes natural looking hair strokes. I do not recommend this technique for anyone with very oily/textured skin in the brow area.

Combination brows (also called hybrid etc) is microblading and shading. I use a tattoo machine to do shading. This is my most popular service. I highly recommend it for anyone with sparse or missing brow hair as it provides a background for the hair strokes and ties everything together. As most of my clients use make up regularly on their brows, shading provides the desired density. Clients with thick or coarse hair will find shading to be very beneficial as well, as hair strokes alone will look very obvious in contrast to thick/dark hair.

Powder is shading done with a machine. This can be soft and borderless or more defined and bold depending on the look desired. This is better for all skin types.

Nano is typically hair strokes done with a machine. I do not offer this service at this time. This usually works better than microblading for clients with oily skin that want a hair stroke look.

How long will my brows last?

This entirely depends on your skin/lifestyle. Most people come in for a touch up somewhere between 1-2 years. Although it is not tattoo ink, the pigment will last most clients many years before fading out entirely. Keep in mind that lighter pigment colours will fade faster (blonde/taupe brows).

Sun exposure, chemical exfoliants, and iron deficiency may cause your brows to fade faster.

People with normal to dry skin will typically have much longer lasting results than anyone with oily/highly textured skin.

This is not like a regular tattoo! Skin on the face is different. There are many different factors that influence healed results and how long they last.

When should I get a touch up?

I recommend that new clients come back for their first touch up 7-12 weeks after the initial appointment(This is booked as a second session). A lot of clients are very nervous at their first appointment and unsure of how the brows will look when healed. At the follow up we are able to go darker or thicker if desired, and build density (which is very important). Small-big adjustments may be made.

Touch ups do not have to be every year exactly after the first and second session. When the hair strokes have lost definition (ie.aren’t crisp anymore) and the colour has faded a decent amount you may come in for a touch up. It is important to keep in mind for clients with light hair especially, that touch ups done closer together will result in more/darker pigment and a less natural look. The hair stokes will soften, shrink and blur over time. I typically recommend waiting at least 1.5 or up to 3 years for a touch up if you would like to maintain a softer, more natural look.

You must wait at least 9 months before coming in for an annual touch up.

When can I get botox/filler?

At least 3 weeks before or after your appointment.

Can I have this done if I have allergies?

Please contact me before booking. Most people are not allergic to any of the products that I use.

Will you do my brows if I have previous cosmetic tattooing?

Possibly! Please send photos to kaylee@kdtbeauty.com of the front and sides of your brows in good natural lighting for approval before booking. I will only accept clients with previous work if I feel that they have realistic expectations and brows I can achieve good results with. This must be booked as a first session if you are a new client to me. I do not charge extra for cover ups although sometimes they are more work. I may recommend removal beforehand.

If there is dark, saturated pigment already, I cannot give you a soft fluffy brow!

Am I able to buy a gift certificate?

Yes! I do have gift certificates available. However, please make sure the person you are purchasing this for has read my policies and is interested in my work.
