BROWS
Before your appointment
Please be sure to follow all pre-care instructions prior to your appointment
Failure to do so may result in a $100 rescheduling fee or loss of deposit
If you get Botox/Dysport or filler, make sure it has been at least 3 weeks prior to coming in for your brow appointment. This is the most common reason I end up rescheduling clients last minute!
Please do not wax, tweeze, or get threading in your brow area for at least 3 days before coming in.
You may grow your brows out prior to coming in if desired, and I will clean up any hair that ends up not being a part of your brow design/shape.
Retinol/Chemical exfoliant use must be discontinued in the brow area for at least 2 weeks prior to having your service done.
Avoid tanning indoors or outdoors for at least 2 weeks prior. I cannot tattoo skin that is sun burnt.
If you have taken any antibiotics recently, make sure it has been at least 2 weeks since finishing them before coming in for your appointment.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen or any medication that thins the blood for 24 hours prior to your appointment. This is very important! Excess bleeding can result in less than ideal healed results.
I am unable to tattoo anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.
I am unable to tattoo you if you’ve taken Accutane within the last year.
If you have experienced keloid scarring I cannot tattoo you.
If you have undergone chemotherapy you must wait at least 6 months before booking and receive approval from your doctor.
Clients that experience chronic acne, dermatitis, or eczema etc in the brow area may not achieve ideal results. Please contact me for a consultation. Rosacea can cause excess bleeding, so the skin may not be able to retain pigment well.
I do not recommend microblading for those with oily and/or very textured skin in the brow area. Hairstrokes done with a manual tool become blurry much faster on oily skin or may not retain pigment well.
Clients with previously tattooed brows MUST have a consultation be approved by me before booking. No exceptions! Please send photos to kaylee@kdtbeauty.com front the front and sides in good natural lighting and I will let you know if you should book a consultation in person. Reworks / Cover ups are typically more challenging for many reasons. Clients that live out of town can arrange a FaceTime consultation.
Please expect to attend a first and second session, then touch ups every 1-4 years to maintain. Some clients may require a third appointment.
Aftercare
On the day on your appointment, gently wipe your brows with the provided gauze every 1-4 hours until you go to bed (I will let you know how often is best for you).
Before going to bed, re-apply a thin layer of the lotion provided with a q-tip or your clean finger. Always make sure your brows are dry after wiping, before putting the lotion on so the moisture does not get trapped underneath.
Your brows may feel swollen and tender for a few days after, this is normal and will pass. You can take advil/tylenol after your appointment. The hair strokes will be very dark and bold for about a week. Don’t panic!
Every morning and night for the next 2 weeks following your appointment, gently wipe your brows, make sure they are dry, then apply a thin layer of the lotion
You will start to experience dryness and flaking around a week after your appointment. It is very important to not prematurely pick off any healing skin. Some people may experience patchy scabbing. Try not to sleep on your face and keep them dry (other than the thin layer of lotion) but not uncomfortably so.
Avoid sweating and any exercise for at least 10 days.
Avoid getting your brows wet in the shower, pat them dry asap if they do get wet.
Avoid saunas, baths and hot tubs while your brows are healing.
Do not apply make up to your brows for 2 weeks following the appointment.
Avoid applying chemical exfoliant to your brows long term.
Do not tan indoors or outdoors while your brows are healing (or for a month prior). After the 2 week period, use sunscreen to protect your skin.
Your brows may appear very light after the initial healing process, please wait about a month to see the pigment fully healed into your skin. Keep in mind that hair strokes will shrink up as the heal. When the pigment is settled we are seeing it through layers of skin, like a filter, so it will soften sometimes dramatically.
Small adjustments can be made at the initial follow up appointment (recommended 7-12 weeks after the first) or annual to the pigment colour and shape. Many clients wish to go darker/bolder at their follow up appointment, and I may need to adjust the techniques used. I always recommend a second session after the first. Cosmetic tattoos are not like a regular tattoo, skin on the face is especially complicated! Building up the brow may take multiple sessions for ideal results.
Following these aftercare instructions is essential to healing your brows. Please protect your investment!
Book your appointment accordingly so you know you’re in a good position to follow all of the pre and post care (ie.no vacation or big events before or after).
Please keep in mind that in order to achieve the best healed results, pre & post care must be followed, and the best techniques for your skin type must be used.
Achieving the best possible results in a combination of skill, proper technique for the skin type, and pre / post care. Please expect to attend a first and second session, then touch ups every 1-4 years to maintain.
Healed results vary due to many different factors. I make no guarantee that healed cosmetic tattooing will entirely replace the make up products you typically use. Tinting, grooming and styling the brows afterwards may still be essential to achieve the look you want daily. Cosmetic Tattooing does not replace make up entirely for some individuals, but it is very complimentary and makes your make up routine easier.
Your second session must be booked within a 3 month time frame from the first session. “Additional” touch ups can only be booked for a 3 months time frame after your last appointment.
LIPS
Before your appointment
Please be sure to follow all pre-care instructions prior to your appointment
Failure to do so may result in a $100 rescheduling fee or loss of deposit
Clients that experience cold sores must take a prescribed anti-viral medication beforehand to avoid an outbreak. 1 dose on the day of the procedure, and for 3 days following the appointment.
You may take an antihistamine to prevent swelling.
If you get Botox/Dysport or filler in the area getting tattooed, make sure it has been at least 3 weeks prior to coming in for your lip appointment. This is the most common reason I end up rescheduling clients last minute!
If you have taken any antibiotics recently, make sure it has been at least 2 weeks since finishing them before coming in for your appointment.
Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen or any medication that thins the blood for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Gently exfoliate your lips a few days before coming in. A mixture of sugar and coconut oil will work great! Stay hydrated and drink lots of water for a few days prior as well. This important!
Keep them moisturized (I love aquaphor) so they aren’t flakey, which is very hard for me to effectively tattoo. This is important!
Please expect to attend a first and second session, then touch ups every 1-2 years to maintain.
Aftercare
Your lip tattoo will be very vibrant initially and once healed fade about 40-60%. The colour picked will be expected to fade to your desired colour. Please keep in mind that pigment healed into the lips looks different than make up sitting on top of the skin.
You may experience swelling and bruising for a few days after. Use a cold compress for up to 15 minutes at a time.
Gently wipe your lips with the provided gauze in the morning and before bed, and after eating. Make sure they’re dry before applying a very thin layer of the provided aftercare lotion with a q-tip or your clean finger.
In a few days your lips will start to flake or scab. Do not pick at any of the healing skin. Use small amounts of the provided aftercare to keep your lips moist. Be very gentle with them and avoid eating spicy food during this time!
Please keep in mind, cosmetic tattooing is more of an art than a science, it may take multiple sessions to achieve the best results. For clients who want to neutralize any darker lip tones, or achieve more of a lipstick effect, more than 2 appointments may be necessary.
